I feel gripped by the story of being chosen. It’s so powerful as to make me forget what I want, because – when I stop to think of it – I’m sure it wasn’t fame or fortune I was after….
On Writing
For an AUDIENCE OF ONE
I want to be able to perform, or share about the story I have written with one person, if that is all that shows up. It’s a book, after all – it’s designed for just such an intimate audience.
How My Book Came To Be
I have to come to understand that there are always two stories present in any work of art: the primary story relayed by the work itself and the secondary story that tells how it was made. These two stories are always intimately connected. The second is a kind of origin myth of the first. And, I believe, these origin myths matter.

How I Wrote It
